If you’re gearing up to embark on the annual spring clean, why not create a playlist to keep you energised throughout the day?
Here at Dishmatic, we’ve been giving this a lot of thought and our top seven tracks, below, have been carefully selected to keep you invigorated and smiling all day long.
Our Spring Clean tracklist:
#1 - To get things started, how about a good blast of Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Girls just want to have Fun’? A sure-fire way to raise your spirits, turn up the volume and boogie your way through your first chore, holding on to the thought that spring cleaning doesn’t last forever.
#2 - If the idea of a spring clean, however, is just too daunting, don’t despair. We reckon a sing along to Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I will survive’ will have you charged up and raring to go in no time at all.
#3 - Rhianna’s ‘Diamonds’ is a belter! While you might not be shining diamonds, it’s guaranteed to take your mind off cleaning the windows or shining the bathroom mirror.
#4 - Reggae star Jimmy Cliff recorded ‘I can see clearly now’ back in 1993 and for us it’s a perfect spring clean song. With lyrics that say, ‘It’s going to be a bright, bright sun-shiny day’ it speaks of positivity and thinking the end game. Both handy when you've got a duster in hand.
#5 - We just had to include two songs from Queen on our playlist! The first is more about the video than the song. Who can forget Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon dressed as housewives tackling their daily chores singing along to ‘I want to Break Free’? Whilst the original was produced over 30 years ago (1984 in fact), a whole new audience has been introduced to this video masterpiece thanks to Rami Malek’s portrayal of Freddie in Bohemian Rhapsody, for which he was recently nominated ‘best actor’ at the BAFTAs.
#6 - The second Queen offering is ideal for playing halfway through your spring clean. When you’ve made good progress and ticked off some of your chores ‘Another one bites the dust’ reminds you of all that you’ve achieved.
#7 - At the end of the day, for us, there’s no better way to finish the playlist than Pharrell William’s ‘Happy’. The best-selling song of 2014 and taken from the hit movie Despicable Me 2, save this one for when you’re sitting down with a well-earned cuppa and enjoying a super spring-cleaned home. Happy is what it’s all about!
We hope our playlist selections work for you, but if you’ve got any sing-along spring clean favourites do let us know. Or, if you have any other ideas please do feel free to share. We love hearing from you on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
