As well as turning our products, packaging, social media, newsletter and logo pink, our chosen Breast Cancer charities to donate to this year are Against Breast Cancer (UK) and Young Pink Sisters (Australia), both of these charities do tremendous work all year round to help those effected by the disease.

Against Breast Cancer (UK)

Against Breast Cancer was founded by Dr Anthony Leathem and his wife Patricia in their quest for a future free of breast cancer. Thirty years ago, Anthony was a pathologist at University College London; his wife Patricia a breast cancer theatre nurse at Oxford’s Churchill Hospital. Upset by the number of postmortems he carried out each day on young women with breast cancer, Anthony started carrying out research into breast cancer survival.

Today, Against Breast Cancer funds pioneering research into new treatments, tools for earlier diagnosis and advice to reduce the risk of recurrence and secondary spread. Working with expert scientists they want to increase the survival rates of all breast cancer patients and ultimately, discover a vaccine against breast cancer.

Having a continued partnership with such a prestigious brand that our supporters recognise every October is fantastic for Against Breast Cancer.  The £10,000 donation goes to our vital research into secondary spread breast cancer.  As a charity we fund research in; Prevention, reducing risk, Detection and earlier diagnosis and Therapies, more effective treatments.  We couldn’t fund this innovative research without funds, so we are grateful to be partnered with Dishmatic” – Kelly Gibson, Head of Fundraising.

Young Pink Sisters (Australia)

Going through breast cancer as a young woman presents many roadblocks. One of them has become prevalent and that is financial struggles. Going through treatment is not cheap in Australia and causes a lot of distress that is an additional stress on top of the already incredibly difficult situation, but unfortunately, this is a reality for most. Young Pink Sisters are there to help those who are struggling through immediate financial relief, provide an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on throughout the treatment process and beyond.

Supporting Social Media Activity

The last two years, we decided to do some additional social media activity to encourage our fans to get involved – this included Brew for Breast Cancer and the Dishmatic Pink Challenge. Brew for Breast Cancer was created to inspire fans and followers to have a pink themed tea party to help raise awareness and bring people together (in person when allowed, or virtually) during the difficult time of the pandemic. Whereas the Dishmatic Pink Challenge was all about cleaning, we shared a different household item per week in October to encourage people to clean this with a pink Dishmatic product (sharing this on Instagram with their top tips too of course!). Both of these had bonus incentives of being entered into a draw to win a product bundle and bigger prize too – we had some brilliant entries for both of these challenges are we are so grateful for our fans helping us to continuously support the cause and spreading further awareness!

We have decided we’d like to mix it up this year though and we will be doing some completely new activity (exciting!) …
