Young Pink Sisters

Think Pink with Young Pink Sisters and Dishmatic

We’re thrilled to once again be teaming up with Young Pink Sisters. The aim of which is to raise much needed funds and increase awareness of breast cancer during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Who are Young Pink Sisters?

Young Pink Sisters is a charity that provides financial and emotional support to young women with breast cancer. It is run solely by young women who have survived or who are still fighting the disease. The charity aims to relieve financial burdens associated with having breast cancer, in particular treatment costs.

All funds raised and donated go directly to those with the disease, enabling ‘young pink sisters’ to spend quality time with their family and have fewer financial stressors. Lauren Bryant, founder and director of Young Pink Sisters, states that ultimately they would like to be able to pay for the cost of reconstructions following mastectomies. Women face extremely long waiting periods going through the public system for this procedure.

The charity started as a Facebook based online support group for women under 50 living with breast cancer. It has continued and flourished into a go-to online resource for young women with breast cancer: there are now more than 4,000 members across Australia and overseas.

Lauren Bryant says of the group: “Even though we are going through tough times and our cancer journeys are so different, we have something in common. We are young. We want to get on with a normal life and still be able to do what young women do”.
