The clean-up crew
The beauty of this recipe is that everything cooks in one pot. However, tomato sauce can leave behind stubborn splashes and residue.
The Dishmatic Fillable Handle with a General Purpose Refill is handy for washing up the plates and tackling suitable non-delicate cookware. For tougher, stuck-on food a Dishmatic Scrub N’ Shine Pad can help. Always check your cookware manufacturer’s cleaning instructions first.
Money-saving tip: Swap the sausages for extra beans or lentils to stretch the meal further, or use whatever vegetables you already have in the fridge.
Creamy garlic and mushroom pasta

The clean-up crew
Creamy sauces can cling to pans, especially if they’ve cooled and dried. Give the frying pan a soak in warm water with washing-up liquid before tackling any residue.
A Dishmatic Non Scratch Refill is a useful choice for suitable non-stick cookware, helping you clean without using an unnecessarily abrasive scourer.
Money-saving tip: Frozen mushrooms aren’t always the best choice for this recipe, but you can swap in leftover vegetables, use less cream cheese with a splash more milk, or add frozen peas for extra portions.

The clean-up crew
Baked-on cheese is delicious on top of a potato bake, but less appealing when it’s stuck to the dish afterwards!
Allow the dish to cool safely, then soak it in warm, soapy water to loosen the residue. A Dishmatic General Purpose Refill can help clean suitable ovenproof dishes, while the Big Job Brush is useful for tackling stubborn grime on compatible hard-wearing surfaces.
Money-saving tip: Use whatever vegetables you already have, swap cheddar for another cheese and serve alongside frozen peas or carrots to make the meal go further.
Make winter cooking a little easier
The best budget meals don’t need fancy ingredients or complicated techniques. A few cupboard staples, some seasonal vegetables and a little creativity can go a long way.
And when dinner is done, having the right cleaning tools makes tackling the pots and pans that little bit easier.
From the Dishmatic Fillable Handle for everyday washing up to Non Scratch Refills for suitable delicate surfaces and the Big Job Brush for tougher grime, a few handy helpers can make the post-dinner tidy-up feel less like a second job.
Our top tip? Clean as you go, soak pans before food dries on and share the washing up. After all, whoever cooked shouldn’t always have to do the cleaning, too!
Now, put the kettle on, grab a blanket and enjoy a cosy evening. You’ve earned it.
