Pancake day is one of those joyous kitchen moments where everyone suddenly wants to become a chef. It’s fun, tasty and nostalgic… right until you’re staring down at a pan with burnt on batter and kitchen worktops dotted with sticky splashes of pancake mix.
Good news, we’ve written a blog so you can enjoy every flip and make the cleanup super easy. Let’s start with the fun and yummy part first…
Pancake Recipe🥞
We find this recipe from BBC Good Food super easy for making pancakes: Easy pancakes recipe | Good Food
100g plain flour
2 large eggs
300ml milk
1 tbsp oil
Step 1
Put 100g plain flour, 2 large eggs, 300ml milk, 1 tbsp sunflower or vegetable oil and a pinch of salt into a bowl or large jug, then whisk to a smooth batter. This should be similar in consistency to single cream.
Step 2
Set aside for 30 mins to rest if you have time, or start cooking straight away.
Step 3
Set a medium frying pan over a medium heat and carefully wipe it with some oiled kitchen paper.
Step 4
When hot, cook your pancakes for 1 min on each side until golden, using around half a ladleful of batter per pancake. Keep them warm in a low oven as you make the rest.
Step 5
Add your favourite topping, we thought we’d share some Dishmatic favourite for inspiration:
Emma (Marketing Team) – Classic lemon and sugar, you can’t beat the original!
Dovydas (Marketing Team) – Strawberries & Cream, all the way!

Now for the Reality. The Pancake Mess…
Batter drips. Pancakes burn. Counters get sticky. The trick is having the tools and knowing how to clean without scrubbing for ages.
Burnt Pan
Before you start scrubbing fill the pan with hot water, and let it soak for a couple of minutes.
You can then grab your Dishmatic Fillable Handle or Wonder Wand and get scrubbing, the burnt on pancake will easily come off.
Sticky Counters
Pancake batter can become like glue when left on a worktop for a while.
Soften if first using a damp microfibre cloth and place it over the stuck on food. Leave it to sit for 5-10 minutes and then simply wipe away gently.
