The start of a new year always brings in the usual new year’s resolutions and a new wave of motivation – and 2026 is the perfect time to get into some good habits for cleaning our homes to make it easier and quicker.
Handy tools and simple routines make all the difference. So we’ve made some realistic cleaning habits to start in 2026.
Little and Often🤏?
We like to make ourselves a rule, if a job takes less than 60 seconds to do then we do it there and then, for example washing the knife up we just used to make ourselves a snack. This can be a great habit to get into as it means mess doesn’t build up and become overwhelming. We understand this isn’t realistic all the time, but it is a great habitat to try and implement.
Air and Make your Bed Daily🛏️
We recommend the first thing to do when you get out of bed is to air the bed by pulling the covers down, a super simple one but can be really effective in removing trapped moisture reducing the build up of dust mites and bacteria.
Reset the Kitchen Every Evening🌝
Ending the day with a tidy kitchen is something that you will always thank yourself for the following morning. A quick evening rest might include:
- Washing or loading the dishwasher
- Wiping down all the surfaces
- Cleaning the sink and draining board
- Sweeping the floors
It doesn’t have to be a full deep clean, just something which will make you feel better the next day.
