But if you’re looking for some extra hints and tips to help make your washing up experience more enjoyable, we’ve got you covered.
Music motivation
We know you’ve heard it before but adding a soundtrack to your washing up really can help you blitz through your dishes! Crank up those tunes and boogey your way through it. And if you’re in need of some inspiration, why not check out our Jazzy June playlist over on Spotify? (add link).
Order, order!
Do you usually just wash things as you pick them up? We’d suggest implementing a system, starting with the less dirty items such as glasses and cups, followed by plates/bowls and serving dishes before finishing with cookware/pots and pans. Don’t forget to check for those last remnants of lasagne!
Temperature test
Make sure the water you are washing with is warm enough. It might sound obvious but, if it isn’t, even with Derek on hand, you won’t get sparkling results. Be mindful of making it too hot though! A pair of washing up gloves could be a good solution here. Top tip: if you are soaking dishes, it’s actually better to use cold water.
Tools of the trade
They say a bad workman blames his tools, so before you start make sure that not only is Derek’s head in good enough nick to blast through the grease and grime, but that your sink or washing up bowl is also clean. You don’t need any extra dirt to contend with!
Don’t delay
We’ve all been guilty of leaving the Sunday roast pan until Monday to clean, but time really is of the essence, particularly when it comes to those items that are going to need a little more elbow grease to get clean. And just think of the sense of satisfaction you’ll get – starting the week off with no dirty dishes in the sink.
